Euro-zone banks slightly decreased their use of the European Central Bank's overnight deposit facility to EUR58.55 billion Friday, ECB data showed Monday.

That is EUR3.11 billion lower than the roughly EUR61.66 billion reported for Thursday's use of overnight funds.

Use of the ECB's overnight facility, which is perceived as a safe but costly option to place unneeded liquidity, has dropped from levels of well over EUR200 billion in recent weeks.
