Perrigo to Buy Omega Pharma for $4.5 Billion
Perrigo Co. has agreed to buy Belgium-based Omega Pharma in a
bid to expand its portfolio of over-the-counter drugs and broaden
its market presence throughout Europe. The companies said the deal
was valued at 3.6 billion euros, or $4.5 billion.
Fannie Mae Profit Falls 55%
Fannie Mae said its profit fell 55% to $3.91 billion as the firm
reported lower revenue and a bigger tax provision than it did a
year ago. Net revenue declined 5% to $6.01 billion, while net
interest income slipped 7.1% to $5.18 billion.
Three Banks Likely To Bid for Citi Japan Unit
Three Japanese lenders are likely to bid tomorrow in the second
round of an auction for Citigroup's Japan retail unit and its
credit-card business, according to people familiar with the
matter.

German engineering giant Siemens says that it would sell its
hearing aid business to private-equity firm EQT Partners and
Germany's Strüngmann family in a deal valued at $2.68 billion.

DirecTV said its third-quarter earnings fell 13% to $611 million
as higher revenue in both the U.S. and Latin America was offset by
unfavorable foreign-exchange rates.

Taiwanese personal-computer maker Acer reported a narrow profit
for a third consecutive quarter after cost cuts, though revenue

French banks Société Générale and Crédit Agricole eported an
increase in third-quarter net profit, lifted by lower costs and
provisions against bad loans.
AOL Revenue Jumps on Advertising Growth
AOL said revenue from its advertising business, particularly its
third-party platform, drove a 12% increase in its top line.
Overall, the company said it earned $28.5 million, or 35c a share,
as revenue rose 12% to $626.8 million.
Deutsche Telekom Net Profit Falls
Deutsche Telekom said third-quarter net profit fell 14% as
growth in Europe and Germany was hampered by macroeconomic
conditions, though it reported strong U.S. customer growth.

Germany's Munich reports a 17% rise in third-quarter net profit
because of low disaster costs and raised its guidance for the full
