SANTA FE, N.M., Oct. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Santa
Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD) Film School student
Jody McNicholas will show
Longshotsville, a film about a community of actors pursuing
their passions in Taos, New
Mexico, at the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival. Showings
will be held October 20 and 21 at
4 p.m. at the Jean Cocteau Cinema in
downtown Santa Fe.
The idea for the film came to McNicholas when she attended Metta
Theatre for an artists' workshop. She was immediately captivated by
the actors around her. The documentary centers on five artists
whose plans frequently change, allowing viewers to witness the act
of pursuing their passions.
McNicholas, who is the owner of Walk-in-Productions based in
Taos, is also the recent recipient
of a New Mexico Women in Film Scholarship, which she will use to
distribute the film. The organization has also inspired her through
its panels on directing, mentoring and networking.
McNicholas is deeply invested in her education. She was also
recently accepted as a junior in the Film School at SFUAD. Now 50,
McNicholas says she chose to return to school to pursue her BFA in
Film with a focus on Post Production to fuel her passion for
filmmaking by polishing her technical skills.
"I am grateful to be starting my journey at Santa Fe University of Art and Design," she
said. "I wish to make a larger impact as a filmmaker by not only
developing my storytelling abilities, but also to obtain the
technical training and mentorship that will take those stories to
the next level. I am having the ride of my life!"
