Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson said Thursday that it plans to launch its new Android-powered smart phone, Xperia X10, in South Korea in June, the second smart phone to make its way into the local market.

The latest move indicates that the handset maker is pushing to lift its presence in South Korea's nascent but fast-growing smart phone market.

Sony Ericsson, a joint venture between Japan's Sony Corp. (SNE) and Sweden's Telefon AB L.M. Ericsson (ERIC), also said it will partner up with SK Telecom Co. (SKM), South Korea's largest wireless services operator by revenue, to offer the phones.
