Peru's Camisea Expects to Maintain Higher Natural Gas Liquids Output

LIMA, Peru--The Camisea consortium expects to maintain production of natural gas liquids at around 100,000 barrels a day from its blocks in southeastern Peru, U.S.-based Hunt Oil Co., which is part of the consortium, said Wednesday.

In September, Peru produced 96,591 barrels a day of natural gas liquids, up from 88,776 barrels a day in August, according to state agency Perupetro. Almost all of the production came from Camisea's Block 88 and Block 56.

Hunt Oil's general manager in Peru, Barbara Bruce, told reporters that the increase was due to an expansion at the Malvinas plant.

"The number of wells and the dimension of the structures that Camisea has at Block 88 are such that we'll be able to maintain that rate," Ms. Bruce said when asked about the outlook for natural gas liquids.

The Camisea consortium also includes Pluspetrol Peru Corp. SA; South Korea's SK Holdings Co. (003600.SE); Tecpetrol, a unit of Argentina's Techint Group; Algeria's Sonatrach Petroleum Corp.; and Spanish oil company Repsol SA (REPYY, REP.MC).
