Barry Sankey is recognized as a pinnacle professional among sports reporters

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa., Dec. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Continental Who's Who spotlights accomplishments and accolades of many of today's executives and leading professionals around the world. Barry Sankey is a professional Sports Reporter for the Phoenixville Newspaper with over 40 years of expertise in the field of sports journalism.

Barry has covered stories related to local, scholastic, collegiate and professional sports, and has received numerous honors throughout his accomplished career; including the prestigious Keystone Press Award, which he has received numerous times for his work that has appeared in The Mercury, The Times Herald in Norristown, the Delaware County Times, Daily Local News in West Chester, and the Reporter in Lansdale.

Writing has always been a driving force in Barry's life from an early age, winning story-writing contests and garnering praise at his elementary school in Limerick, Pennsylvania. By freshman year of high school, he was the coordinator and writer for a local section in two local weekly newspapers, and also wrote for the local Pennsylvania paper before finishing high school.

Barry then went on to earn his Bachelor's of Arts degree in Journalism and Political Science from Temple University in Philadelphia where he graduated Cum Laude. As a student, he served as the sports editor and managing editor of the university paper, The Temple News. As a modern day professional, Barry Sankey's record speaks for itself, having reported for such Pennsylvania papers as The Mercury, the old Philadelphia Bulletin, The Spring-Ford Reporter, and currently, The Phoenix.

With a passion for local sports of all levels Barry has witnessed and reported first-hand the rise of great talent from youth leagues to professional circles. Even though he's a die-hard Philadelphia fan, Barry still prefers to place most of his passion covering high school sports, where the importance of discipline, sportsmanship, and personal growth is stressed.

Barry's passion for local sports has enabled him to witness and report first-hand the rise of many great talents from youth leagues to professional such as retired Major League baseball slugger Mike Piazza and the legendary Hall of Fame NBA Referee, Earl "Yogi" Strom, who was also Barry's uncle.

Barry is very active in the community showcasing up and coming student athletes. He is also involved in local politics, as well as with Spring City American Legion Baseball. Barry has served on the House, Finance, and Ways and Means Committees of Congregation Mercy and Truth Synagogue Pottstown, and is the Past President of B'nai B'rith Men's Group. Barry Sankey is an outstanding professional, and on behalf of the Continental Who's Who, we welcome Barry and congratulate him on his success.
