Cityzenith CEO Michael Jansen to be Honored as World Cities Summit Young Leader

The World Cities Summit Young Leaders, a new initiative by the World Cities Summit (WCS) program secretariat, is a networking platform for young urban leaders to spearhead change. As a newly-nominated WCS Young Leader, Mr. Jansen will be attending the inaugural WCS Young Leaders Symposium on May 31st, 2014, in Singapore. A preamble to the World Cities Summit, this inaugural Symposium will focus on how to initiate sustainable projects to improve cities. The World Cities Summit 2014 is expected to attract 1,400 delegates worldwide including Mayors, Ministers, and leaders from business and international organization communities.

A champion for the use of open standards in cities, earlier this month on April 1st, Mr. Jansen welcomed the world's Smart City innovation leaders to an unprecedented gathering hosted by Cityzenith to discuss the development of common, standards-based platforms for cities (click here to view the 7-minute audio-video recording featuring highlights). 33 participants joined from 18 cities in 11 countries, including Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, the UAE, India, and Singapore. The attendees consisted of major city CIO's, city officials, and leaders from several of the largest city networks and municipal standards institutions in the world. Cityzenith's worldwide city collaboration platform initiative, the Global Partner City Programâ„¢, was nominated as a finalist in the "Innovative Initiative" category at the World Smart Cities Awards in Barcelona last November.

In March, Mr. Jansen was also appointed to the JTC 1 ISO Advisory Group on Smart Cities recently established by INCITS, and will serve on a task force with smart city industry experts to "identify the aspects of the smart city concept that are most relevant to ISO."

Over the next two months, Mr. Jansen will be speaking at the GCIF Global Cities Summit from May 15-16 in Toronto, and at the upcoming Agrion event in San Francisco on April 24th entitled "Why Holistic Data Analytics is Vital for Evolving Smart Cities."
