CHEVY CHASE, Md., Aug. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Your
reservation is confirmed! On Tuesday,
October 7, Travel Channel premieres two original series
featuring two hotel experts, on one new night. "Resort
Rescue," a new 13 episode one-hour original series, features
New Zealand-born hospitality
expert Shane Green. Using
strategically placed hidden cameras, Green travels across the
country on a mission to help ailing hotel and resort owners figure
out what's going wrong inside their establishments, and how to turn
things around. Now on a new night, "hotel fixer" Anthony Melchiorri returns for a fifth season of
the popular series "Hotel Impossible." Melchiorri is as
relentless as ever as he travels around the world helping
struggling hotels get back on their feet and on the path to
success.

In "Resort Rescue," bad customer service, unruly guests and
dysfunctional employee-owner dynamics are all caught on
multiple-camera feeds. Through the use of hidden cameras installed
throughout each resort property, the hotel staff has no idea they
are being watched as Green catches their every move on camera. He
scours the resort from top to bottom. Everything from using a
black light to check for clean bedding, catching the bartender
neglecting new customers, to an out-of-control guest in the resort
pool, it is unbelievable what he discovers. In a behind-the-scenes
room, Green sits down with each of the owners and shows them why
their resort is in bad shape. Once the major issues are discussed,
he snaps into action and shows the staff how to create a top-notch
resort.
In the one-hour premiere episode of "Resort Rescue," airing
on Tuesday, October 7 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, Shane Green travels to Perry, Ga. to evaluate the New Perry Hotel - a
historic landmark that has lost its Southern hospitality and
charm. Once a unique hotel offering visitors a relaxing
getaway from city life, the property has declined over the years
and received negative reviews of its restaurant and hotel grounds.
Green settles in and immediately sets up hidden cameras throughout
the New Perry and asks owner Patty
Johnson, a former chemist with no hospitality background, to
watch what goes on behind-the-scenes in her struggling hotel.
Filthy public spaces, lack of proper outdoor lighting and a
communication breakdown between the bar and kitchen are a few of
the issues Green points out. Patty finally confesses that the
husband and wife team – originally hired by her to manage the
restaurant and increase profits – are resistant to Patty's
suggestions. They avoid speaking to her for days and take
liberties with the established menu, which has resulted in numerous
customer complaints. Green zeros in on this as the major problem
that needs to be addressed or the New Perry Hotel will close.

In the new season of "Hotel Impossible," Melchiorri's
management skills, emotions and patience are put to the test once
again. Armed with a design team to help with some
much-needed renovations, Melchiorri makes critical changes that may
include getting a stubborn owner with no business sense to listen
or getting a lazy staff to step it up. Utilizing special experts
and the latest gadgets and technology to test, evaluate and measure
different aspects of the hotel, Melchiorri pushes these
owners and GMs to get it right. He's determined
to bring hotels back from the brink with tough love, proven
procedures and transformative renovations.
In the season five opener of "Hotel Impossible,"
premiering on Tuesday, October 7
at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, Melchiorri
heads back to Daytona Beach, Fla., to the historic
50-room Streamline Hotel where NASCAR was born. Owner
Eddie Hennessey purchased the
property just three months ago in hopes of repositioning and
restoring the now rundown hotel. The Streamline is where the
founders of NASCAR first signed the papers to create one of
America's most successful and popular sports brands. Despite
its illustrious past, it has fallen on very hard times.
Major maintenance issues, an unsavory reputation and a clueless
general manager and owner threaten the hotel's future. Upon
arriving, Melchiorri is aghast at the blatant safety
issues caused by the deteriorating building and concludes that
the only way to move forward is to shut the property down for
a complete renovation. He enlists designer Leslie Segrete to help restore the
former allure and glamour of the Streamline's NASCAR-related
past. Melchiorri has his work cut out for him as he tries to
give the owner an idea of how to run, maintain and successfully
market his landmark property.
