LONDON--Electricity and gas company SSE PLC (SSE.LN) will sell its Hampshire data centre to independent IT group SCC, for 12 million pounds ($19.7 million), subject to capital adjustment and provision of transition services for a period of three months.

The facility was operated by SSE Enterprise Telecoms, which owns and operates a U.K.-wide fibre optic network.

Gregor Alexander, Finance Director of SSE said "SSE PLC is continuing its business simplification program, which will secure proceeds and debt reduction estimated to total around GBP1 billion and ensure SSE PLC's resources are fully focused on its core purpose of providing the energy people need in a reliable and sustainable way."

SSE shares at 0935 GMT traded down 5 pence, or 0.3%, at GBP15.42, valuing the company at GBP15.22 billion.
