WASHINGTON, Oct. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- SAP SE (NYSE:
SAP) today announced the development of a U.S. federal secure cloud
offering that is planned to address all dimensions of the cloud
model, including support, operations and delivery.
The planned U.S. federal secure node, delivered in partnership
with SAP National Security Services™ (SAP NS2™), an independent,
U.S.-based subsidiary of SAP, is a fully managed, secure cloud. It
is envisioned to be ideal for mission-critical applications such as
the SAP® Human Capital Management (HCM) application for U.S.
Federal Government Organizations, the SAP Business Warehouse
application and custom applications on SAP HANA® Cloud Platform. It
will offer the right mix of cloud, hosted and on-premise technology
based on each agency's needs, providing flexibility, choice and
control over deployment strategy.
The U.S. federal secure node environment will comply with
National Institute of Standards and Technology parameters, as well
as data sovereignty and citizenship restrictions inherent in the
delivery of cloud-based services to U.S. federal civilian agencies
and the U.S. Department of Defense. This includes organizations
that house export- controlled or other sensitive
information.
Recognizing that government agencies of all sizes with varying
regulatory guidelines and security needs are looking for different
ways to embrace cloud technology, SAP is working with government
customers to offer the right mix of cloud, hosted and on-premise
technology needed to simplify operations and improve quality of
life for the citizens they serve. Government agencies are
using infrastructure and solutions from SAP and certified partners
to extend their existing IT environments into the cloud, making the
most of limited resources to deliver key services securely and with
minimal disruption.
"With the SAP Cloud portfolio, we are offering agencies the
agility and confidence to deliver services in a way that suits
their citizens' needs, particularly in terms of security and
reliability — whether completely in the cloud or in hybrid form —
in a non-disruptive way," said Jen
Morgan, president, North
America, SAP. "Cloud-based solutions are driving
transformation across the private sector, and innovative government
agencies that embrace them can fuel meaningful change in the way
government business is done."
"It is critical that our federal customers have access to cloud
models that are tied to national standards along with options for
secured support," said Mark Testoni,
president and CEO, SAP NS2. "Our planned federal secure node is an
excellent example of how industry can support customers with
mission-enabling solutions and platforms by delivering rapid
innovation in a secure environment."
Underscoring the federal demand for enhanced security within the
cloud, Alan Wade, a member of the
newly formed SAP NS2 Advisory Board, noted: "Trusted cloud
environments enable assured information-sharing through rigorous
attention to security, infrastructure engineering and daily
operational practices."
SAP offers government agencies the flexibility to consume the
cloud when and how they want through a comprehensive portfolio of
public, private and managed cloud offerings. With more than 30
million users and more than 6,000 customers, the SAP Cloud
portfolio includes:
