LONDON--Advertising firm WPP PLC (WPP.LN) said Thursday that Nonexecutive Chairman Roberto Quarta purchased 13,200 ordinary shares in the company at GBP13.39 each.

Mr. Quarta's holding is now 13,200 WPP shares, it added.

WPP shares at 1435 GMT up 22 pence, or 1.7%, at GBP13.33, valuing the company at GBP17.28 billion.
