WASHINGTON, Feb.10, 2016
/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pentagon Force Protection Agency
(PFPA) honored Mr. Paul Churchill "Church" Hutton, III for 61 years
of service to our nation, during a ceremony on Jan. 11, 2016, in the Pentagon Auditorium.
Hutton, a retired Army Special Forces Colonel, ended his
civilian career in PFPA as the deputy chief of the Policy and
Planning office; where he conducted multiple studies, oversaw the
development and updating of numerous policies, charters and support
agreements, and led Agency efforts to plan security for designated
Department of Defense High Risk Personnel.
"Through his contributions, PFPA has grown and evolved into the
agency it is today," said PFPA Director Steven E. Calvery, during the ceremony. "He is a
leader, mentor, guiding hand, and an inspiration to others."
Hutton thanked PFPA leadership for their kind words. "Of course
none of the accomplishments were mine," said Hutton. "They
all resulted from teamwork and collaboration by many people, many
of whom are sitting here in this room... I cannot adequately thank
all of my colleagues for their support during these last 15 years
of federal service."
Hutton served as the executive secretary for the Pentagon
Security Advisory Group, which evaluates security requirements for
the Pentagon and presents courses of action to the Pentagon's
governance bodies.
Hutton, a 1958 graduate of the United
States Military Academy at West Point, served 30 years in
the United States Army in more
than 22 nations, including three combat tours. During the
1970's, Hutton was instrumental in writing the plan to Congress to
convert the U.S. Army to an all-volunteer force. He concluded
his military career as a Senior Planner in the Policy Planning
Staff of the U. S. State Department.
Hutton was born in Ireland and
raised abroad in a Foreign Service family. He held a
fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology in foreign politics and has a Masters from the
University of Pennsylvania in
Literature, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Mechanical
Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at
West Point.
PFPA is a civilian Defense Agency within the Department of
Defense charged with protecting and safeguarding the occupants,
