global tax services firm, announced today that Damon Chronis, Principal and Practice Leader,
Transaction Tax, has been elected to the Board of the University of New Mexico's (UNM's) Anderson School
of Management Alumni Council. The Anderson Alumni Council (AAC)
advises on alumni affairs, develops and strengthens connections
within the alumni community, develops networking opportunities for
alumni and current students, and helps prepare current students for
their role as an alumnus.
Mr. Chronis leads Ryan's Transaction Tax practice, which is the
largest practice of its kind in North
America. With more than 17 years of experience in tax
consulting, he has a successful career minimizing the tax
liabilities and improving the tax performance of many of the
world's leading blue chip global corporations in the
transportation, defense, manufacturing, and technology industries.
He has represented all legacy U.S. domestic carriers and several
global carriers, reducing state and local taxes and motor fuels
excise taxes. In 2015, Mr. Chronis was invited to join the Texas
Comptroller's Taxpayer Advisory Group, which assists the
Comptroller's Office in developing and implementing Texas tax policy. He lectures on various tax
topics for Ryan clients and has appeared as a speaker for the
Institute for Professionals in Taxation and the International Air
Transport Association. In 2012, he was a recipient of the Dallas
Business Journal's "40 Under 40 Award," and the Collin
County Business Press' "40 Under 40 Award." Mr. Chronis
supports his local community by serving the Boys & Girls Club
of Collin County as a Board Member
and as the club's Treasurer. He earned a Bachelor of Business
Administration degree in Accounting at the University of New Mexico and now serves on the UNM
Anderson School of Management Alumni Council.
