GREENVILLE, N.C., June 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul has
announced it intends to have its first company-owned and -operated
facility in the Greenville area up
and running by January 2017.
U-Haul acquired the vacant lot at 4057 S. Memorial Drive one
year ago and is in the process of building what will be known as
U-Haul Moving & Storage of Westhaven.
The 10-acre lot is split into two parcels by an access road. The
front of the property will include an impressive U-Haul showroom; a
three-story, climate-controlled self-storage facility; and a
4,000-square-foot U-Box warehouse. The back of the property will
feature 100 covered storage spaces for RVs, boats and vehicles.
U-Haul Moving & Storage of Westhaven will have 959
self-storage units encompassing 70,000 square feet. The warehouse
will accommodate 200 U-Box portable moving and self-storage
containers. The store also will offer truck and trailer rentals,
towing equipment and professional hitch installation, moving
supplies, boxes and much more. Propane service is expected to be
available sometime after the opening
Paul Smedberg, president of
U-Haul Company of Raleigh, said
the new store will look to hire locally to promote job growth
within the community. When this location is fully operational, he
expects to employ at least 12 U-Haul Team Members.

Greenville or the surrounding
areas," U-Haul Company of Raleigh

will be a new thing for these communities. Greenville is the home to East Carolina University, which enrolls about
27,000 students. Plus, we have Vidant Medical Center, which serves
a large area and employees a lot of people. This is a growing
market and our presence is long overdue."
The store location will be across the street from Pitt Community College.

construction, customers can have their summer moving needs met by
the 16 U-Haul neighborhood dealers in the Greenville city limits or any number of
