TAMPA, Fla., July 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) and FCA US LLC announced the winner of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country wheelchair-accessible vehicle awarded through National Mobility Awareness Month's Local Heroes Contest.

Dave Hastings of Coopersville, Mich. has won a customized minivan with conversions by ElDorado Mobility.  Married for 33 years, Hastings is the primary caregiver for his wife Lori who has Muscular Dystrophy. In 2012 Dave was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and forced to retire early.  Knowing the hardships medical expenses can have on families, the Hastings founded the non-profit, Lori's Voice, that raises funds, to assist with medical expenses not covered by insurance for special needs children under the age of 18.The online Local Heroes Contest had 928 Local Hero entries that received 1.1 million votes.
